Mechanical Project Manager - Frankfurt, Germany

Salter Grange is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Project Manager on behalf of our client, a European leader in construction solutions, delivering complex engineering and construction projects for some of the world''s leading corporations across Enterprise Data Centres, Advanced Technology & Life Sciences, Hyperscale Data Centres and Fire Protection.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Project Manager:

• Understand and support engineering requirements by managing and liaising with key project stakeholders, including the client design team, main contractor, suppliers and sub-contractors
• Provide information reporting to ensure activity targets and deadlines are met in support of the project team
• Review drawings and specifications, and become familiar with design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of works; oversee the coordination process that transforms design information into full installation drawings via BIM, ensuring spec compliance and schedule priority, including generation and management of Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Manage the installation to meet project quality standards on site, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and specifications, including all site activities associated with validation and handover to the client
• Manage site safety in conjunction with the project team and Safety Advisor, including set-up, management and close-out of the safety file
• Manage site QA in conjunction with the QA Manager, including set-up, management and close-out of the QA file
• Manage the project schedule in conjunction with the project team, consulting engineer and client requirements
• Manage all costs associated with the project, including labour, materials, plant and equipment, design review and approval of OSM equipment, variations and valuations
• Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring company policies and SOPs are followed
• Manage sub-contractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels, with a weekly minuted meeting with each sub-contractor
• Manage the project''s snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable
• Issue direct labour and sub-contractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking
• Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings
• Close out all project items, including final account, O&M manuals, punch list, safety file, QA file, material and plant relocations and the project plan, with support from the site project team
• Upload the internal weekly progress report to the project file system, highlighting percentage complete against WBS codes and any risk elements within the project team''s control, such as late deliveries
• Issue the external weekly progress report to all stakeholders, highlighting delays, design shortages, third-party hold-ups and percentage complete
• Ensure all sub-contractor documentation, including safety documentation, is kept up to date and filed for future reference
• Issue weekly safety stats and project labour projections
• Hold weekly commercial meetings with the commercial team to ensure all variations are captured and costs issued to the client
• Develop and implement company procedures with the package managers
• Ensure change management is handled correctly for both cost and programme
• Manage, lead and mentor the Mechanical team on the project, ensuring all mechanical packages are delivered successfully

Essential Criteria for the Mechanical Project Manager role:

• Ideally 8+ years'' experience
• Mechanical Engineering degree
• Data centre experience an advantage
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Good oral and written communication skills
