Canada Life UK is transforming to create a more customer-focused business by providing our customers with expertise on financial and tax planning, offering home finance and annuities propositions, and providing collective fund solutions to third party customers.Purpose Of The RoleThe role holder will support the Head of Asset Strategy and Investment Oversight (ASIO) in providing technical, regulatory, and governance expertise and guidance to Canada Life UK. This includes ensuring compliance with applicable regulation, investment policy and mandates through monitoring activity, oversight and reporting. The role will also provide external insight into the development of the business strategy and the communication of investment strategy and policies.Contribute to the development of processes to ensure investment policies are followed, provide insights on asset allocation, and risk management across portfolios.What You''ll DoSupport the development and communication of investment strategy and policies, and contribute to the business strategy.Support the Head of ASIO in relationships with internal and external Asset Managers, including:Responsible for investment oversight and governance for IMAs entered into by Canada Life UKContribute to the onboarding of new asset managersServe as a primary point of contact for asset management partners, including third-party due diligenceThird-party risk management and oversight, including regulatory compliancePerformance assessment of internal and external Asset ManagersContribute to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with the investment portfolio:Identify asset universe and risk/return characteristics and gather information on available global and regional assetsOngoing monitoring of portfolio to assess risks and ensure portfolio balanceWork with the Head of ASIO on the delivery of responsibilities for structured assets:Set demand for structured assets and define characteristics for raw assets (e.g., duration, return, tranche types)Negotiate with internal/external issuers on asset structures and pricingObtain final credit rating and regulatory approval for new asset structuresContribute to development and maintenance of ASIO Policies and Standards:Develop and maintain relevant Canada Life UK policiesDevelop and maintain Canada Life UK investment standards/mandatesEnsure regulatory compliance and alignment with internal policies and standardsContribute to ASIO reporting and communication:Prepare regular reporting for the Executive Committee and Board on portfolio performance and progress toward investment goalsContinue to develop own skills to evolve ASIO outputs, and network with other financial institutions, asset managers, and investment professionals.What You''ll Bring To The RoleKnowledge of regulations impacting investments in life insurance companiesExperience developing and communicating investment strategy and policies, and contributing to business strategyUnderstanding of global markets, with specific knowledge of fixed income marketsAbility to develop the ASIO team, oversee ASIO processes, ensure investment policies are followed, and support strategic asset allocation and risk managementProject management skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesUnderstanding of investment principles and processesCommercial outlookClear written and verbal communication tailored for all management levelsInfluencing skills with experience engaging senior managementInterpersonal/networking skills to maintain relationships with multiple stakeholdersProven track record of delivering under tight time pressureBenefits Of Working At Canada LifeWe offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including a generous pension and bonus scheme, income protection, private medical insurance and life assurance, plus opportunities for personal and professional development.How We Work At Canada LifeOur culture is important to us.
