Maintenance Engineer
Location; Wellingborough
We are working with a well-established food manufacturer operating within the milling sector. The site runs around the clock, combining heavy process machinery with fast-moving packaging lines, and has a strong focus on reliability and continuous improvement.
We are looking for an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to join a small, close-knit engineering team. You will split your time between reactive breakdown cover and planned maintenance, keeping both the process plant and packaging lines running at their best.
This role would suit an electrical maintenance engineer from a food, FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing background who enjoys variety. With such a broad mix of equipment there is plenty to test your skills, and as part of a smaller team you will have real ownership of your work.
Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias:
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, carrying out systematic electrical and mechanical fault finding
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with the CMMS schedule
- Strip down, inspect, repair and rebuild machinery across process and packaging equipment
- Source, order and manage spare parts stock
- Identify and drive continuous improvements to boost efficiency and reliability
- Keep accurate maintenance records and work to high safety, hygiene and environmental standards
Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias:
- HNC/HND or a recognised apprenticeship in electrical or multi-skilled engineering
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills, backed by a solid mechanical understanding
- Working knowledge of pneumatics
- Maintenance experience within a fast-moving manufacturing environment, ideally food or FMCG
- A calm, organised approach with good prioritisation under pressure
- Proactive, flexible and keen to find better ways of working
