Mulberry, a British lifestyle brand founded in 1971, is seeking a senior legal advisor to provide high quality, relevant legal advice and support on a wide variety of business projects, with a particular focus on commercial and IT/technology contracts. You will have a legal mindset with strong commercial acumen to support contract negotiations. A deep understanding of business risks and enterprise risk management is important as the department develops its approach. The successful candidate may work a maximum of 2 days per week from home.The role involves acting as a senior legal advisor to Mulberry, delivering pragmatic advice and building relationships with key stakeholders while supporting the Group General Counsel and Group Financial Controller on enterprise risk and compliance initiatives.Responsibilities
Draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of contracts to secure the best position for Mulberry and minimise risk. Contracts include, but are not limited to, procurement of materials, products, software and systems and services; supply of products; concession, wholesale and franchise agreements; terms and conditions of sale/purchase; licences; NDAs; IT, digital, technology and SaaS agreements; and data processing agreements.Develop standard form agreements.Support the resolution of performance or other contractual issues arising from ongoing supplier arrangements, including resolving contentious matters.Maintain a contract database and summary of terms; look to develop a central hub of contracts, lease agreements and other key documentation.Undertake research, horizon scanning and identify issues that may impact the business, ensuring projects align with regulatory requirements.Identify key legal risks and advise on implications for the Group with clear, pragmatic, solution-focused guidance.Work closely with the Group General Counsel and Group Financial Controller on the Enterprise Risk Framework.Design and deliver training sessions to the business (e.g., GDPR and other legal/compliance topics).Deliver pragmatic advice and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.Manage legal risk and provide proactive advice to reduce exposure.Support the Group General Counsel on a variety of projects and day-to-day commitments, collaborating with other members of the legal team.Collaborate with other departments, particularly retail and finance teams.Skills and Experience
Law degree (LLB) and LPC essential; qualified to practice in the UK.Qualified Solicitor with at least 8+ years PQE in commercial practice and/or in-house.Strong academic credentials; excellent communication and drafting skills with attention to detail.Ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines; proactive and motivated with a high-quality service mindset.Rigorous, organised, and able to manage a variable, pressurised workload.Strong issue identification and application of relevant legal principles; independent and collaborative work style.Clear ability to distill complex legal principles into accessible language; strong problem-solving skills.Excellent knowledge of contract law and drafting, civil litigation principles, and technology/digital contracts.Proven track record of high-quality legal advice, particularly in international commercial and technology contracts.Strong knowledge of global data protection requirements (Data Protection Act, GDPR, SCCs) and consumer protection law.Strong research skills and a proactive approach to risk management and regulatory changes.Honesty, integrity and confidentiality are essential.Culture and Sustainability
