Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/ School Nurse (Band 6). Term time only. Permanent position with full-time hours during term time, located in London/N15 4RH. Salary £44,485 to £52,521 per year pro rata inclusive of HCAS.Whittington Health Trust is recruiting dynamic qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN) with a strong public health focus who are committed to delivering and improving the health and well-being of school-aged children.Job responsibilities
Manage a defined caseload and cluster of primary schoolsLead on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19)Plan, implement and evaluate interventions in response to changing health needsWork in partnership with key stakeholdersProvide confidential support and advice to young people in different venuesFacilitate the delivery of health promotion and health education activities in school and community settingsThe School Nurse will be part of the Whittington Health School Nursing Team based in Haringey and will deliver Universal Health Services to designated schools, reporting to the Team Leader and contributing to a safe and effective Universal Health Provision.Qualifications
Essential: Specialist Community Public Health School Nursing (SCPHN) qualificationEssential: RSCN or RN (Child Branch) or equivalentDesirable: Evidence of post-registration training and developmentSkills and knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds and agesAbility to reflect on clinical practice for professional growthPrioritisation and effective workload managementBasic IT skills and good organisational abilitiesUnderstanding of safeguarding, child protection, and current issues in school healthExperience of working with children and families and ability to work autonomouslyEssential personal qualities
