Responsibilities and duties of the Project Development Manager role
Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team you will:
- Lead anaerobic digestion and biomethane projects through feasibility, FEED and pre-construction phases through to Final Investment Decision (FID).
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, commercial and development teams to ensure projects remain technically and commercially viable.
- Manage project development programmes including planning, permitting, feedstock strategy, utilities connections and digestate management.
- Support investment and commercial teams with project modelling assumptions including CAPEX, OPEX, revenues and risk assessments.
- Oversee procurement and contracting strategies including EPC, EPCM and multi-package delivery models.
- Manage development budgets, project schedules and risk registers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE, environmental, permitting and gas/grid regulations.
- Support technology selection, contractor engagement and vendor management activities.
- Prepare project governance materials for executive and investment committee review.
- Act as the key point of accountability for projects progressing through development to FID.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure, energy or process engineering projects through development phases.
- A degree in relevant energy or engineering field.
- Strong commercial understanding including project economics, investment cases and risk management.
- Technical background within anaerobic digestion, biomethane, process engineering or a related sector would be highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of project controls, cost estimating and scheduling processes.
- Knowledge of UK permitting, planning and regulatory requirements within the energy or infrastructure sector.
