Ecologist - Cardiff

An established environmental consultancy are looking for an Ecologist to join their team in Cardiff. The role would suit someone with practical field experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive ecology team. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of ecological surveys and projects, working with experienced ecologists and supporting clients across a variety of developments.

For an Assistant Ecologist, the position provides an opportunity to build practical experience and work towards further professional development. An experienced Ecologist would have the opportunity to take greater responsibility for surveys, reporting and project delivery.

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

Undertaking protected species and habitat surveys

Supporting ecological assessments and technical reporting

Assisting with mitigation and ecological enhancement measures

Carrying out fieldwork across South Wales and the wider region

Liaising with clients, contractors and colleagues

Contributing to a variety of development and conservation projects

You will ideally have:

A relevant degree in ecology, environmental science or a related subject

Practical ecological fieldwork experience

Knowledge of UK habitats and protected species

Good report-writing and communication skills

A full UK driving licence

A willingness to work outdoors and travel when required
