ensuring our Trust becomes the first choice for patients and staff.Main duties of the jobFor the band 6 post the successful applicant will possess the SACT Passport. For the developmental band 6 post the successful candidate will have a minimum of 18mths post qualification experience in an acute setting. All applicants must demonstrate strong leadership qualities and organisational skills, and be motivated to support the senior sister and act as a role model for junior members of the team.You will be able to coordinate the ward, working under your own initiative, prioritising your workload providing safe nursing care. You will gain skills through audits and management of a small team of staff. You will have the ability to plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way. To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit. To develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift confidently. EssentialAt least 12 months preceptorshipAt least 18 months post registration experience in an acute settingDemonstratable experience of taking charge a ward, including allocation of safe staffingExperience of mentoring students and supervising unqualified staffExperience of working under pressure and demonstratable coping strategiesExperience of caring for patients receiving palliative and/or End of Life CareDesirableAt least 12 months in a haematology, oncology or palliative care settingKnowledge, Skills and Ability
