Overview

Band 5 Immunisation Nurse - Lambeth and Southwark. This role supports the School Age Vaccination Service (SAV) to deliver and triage nasal flu and other vaccination programmes within SAV teams.Responsibilities

The main duties of a Registered Immunisations Nurse include assessing young people and understanding the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, identifying contraindications, aftercare and the relevant advice to give to the young person.Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse and act in accordance with local Safeguarding Children\''s Board guidelines.Ensure that all statutory and mandatory training is kept up to date, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Immunisation training.Maintain communication and liaison with other nursing disciplines and allied professions.Provide support, mentorship, guidance and supervision to junior and nonqualified staff members of the School Nursing service.Maintain personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care and complying with Trust Health and Safety policies.Experience

Essential: At least 6 months paid immunisation experience in the last 3 years.Experience of working in a community setting.Experience working with children and young people.Able to demonstrate teamwork and effective communication skills with children and adults.Computer literate; able to demonstrate effective teaching strategies for parents/children; able to supervise qualified and unqualified staff; practical knowledge of child protection procedures; understanding National and Local policy relating to school age children; ability to travel between locations with equipment.Qualifications
