1-2-1 Teaching Assistants
Do you have previous experience working as an HLTA, LSA or Teaching Assistant within a school setting?
Do you have experience providing 1:1 or small-group intervention support to pupils?
Do you hold a relevant Level 2, Level 3 or HLTA qualification, or have equivalent school-based experience?
TeacherActive is recruiting committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants / LSAs to work with an inclusive secondary school in Trowbridge.
The school supports students with additional needs both within mainstream classes and through its dedicated Resource Base, and we are looking for people who can provide consistent, patient and individualised support throughout the school day.
This is much more than simply sitting beside a student in a classroom.
You could be supporting a young person 1:1 within a mainstream lesson, working with a small group, helping a student regulate before returning to class or delivering more targeted support within the Resource Base.
The aim is always to help students successfully access education while developing their confidence and independence.
Your role could include:- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for students with SEND and EHCPs
- Supporting students to access mainstream KS3/KS4 lessons
- Working with small groups requiring additional academic or pastoral support
- Supporting targeted activities within the school''s Resource Base
- Helping students manage transitions between lessons and different areas of school
- Supporting emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour
- Breaking tasks into manageable steps and adapting support to individual needs
- Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams
- Building strong professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Encouraging students to become increasingly independent
- Autism / ASC
- ADHD
- SEMH
- EHCPs
- Communication and interaction needs
- Emotional regulation
- Challenging or dysregulated behaviour
- 1:1 SEND support
- Resource Base or specialist provision
- Secondary-age students
Previous school experience is highly desirable, although candidates from youth work, care, support work, coaching, mentoring or other SEND-related backgrounds may also have exactly the skills we''re looking for.
Above everything else, you will need to be calm, consistent, resilient and able to build trust with young people.
