We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a projects and facilities management team supporting a major secure estate in Corsham, Wiltshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and detail-focused individual looking to develop their career within Quantity Surveying and commercial management. You will work alongside experienced commercial professionals and gain hands-on exposure across the full project lifecycle, including tendering, procurement, subcontract management, cost reporting and forecasting.
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of a varied portfolio of projects and works, helping to ensure costs, procurement and contractual requirements are effectively managed.
Key responsibilities include:
Assess tender returns for accuracy, compliance and value for money.
Prepare and issue tender enquiries to contractors and suppliers.
Assist with the preparation and placement of subcontract orders, ensuring clear scopes and commercial terms.
Support the development of scopes of work, activity schedules and pricing templates.
Assist with monthly cost reporting and forecasting.
Support the wider commercial team with procurement and project cost management.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, project teams and other stakeholders.
Help ensure commercial processes are followed and documentation is maintained accurately.
About You
We are looking for someone with a background in quantity surveying, commercial management, procurement or project support, ideally within construction, facilities management or a similar environment.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience in a QS, commercial, procurement or project support position.
Experience within construction, facilities management or the MoD/secure estate environment would be advantageous.
An understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts would be beneficial.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise competing workloads.
Good attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within Quantity Surveying/commercial management.
