Overview

NHSE England is recruiting an Academy Lead [Diagnostics Radiography] on a secondment for a fixed term basis for the South East Imaging Training Academy. The post holder will sit within the NHSE South East Cancer and Diagnostics Programme team and will be instrumental in leading the ongoing development and implementation of the South East Imaging Training Academy. The purpose of the Academy Lead [Diagnostic Radiographer], in partnership with the Academy Lead [Consultant Radiologist], is to provide South East regional leadership for the delivery of high quality, cross specialty, and multi-professional Imaging training, through leading the South East Imaging Training Academy and the core academy team. The successful candidate will be passionate about the delivery and management of imaging education and training in the South East. They will promote and strengthen the practice of lifelong learning along the professional development continuum from qualification to retirement. The successful candidate will show an understanding of the important contribution made by all members of the multi-professional health care team, including support staff as well as clinicians. The fixed term basis is due to funding availability until 31 March 2026.Responsibilities

The overall aim is to increase the number of learners transitioning to the workforce by utilising an academy model to increase training capacity, provide a high quality and enhanced training experience and accelerate learning to independent practice.Provide leadership for imaging education and training with excellent understanding and evidence of involvement in its delivery and management.Operate as a senior HCPC-registered clinician working in the field of imaging in the UK, with a transformation leadership style, and experience in strategic thinking, problem solving and calculated risk management.Lead the development of the academy and be responsible for providing leadership aligned to the aims of the academy.Deliver key outputs including:Increased training capacity across the regionProvision of multi-professional training across a teamProvision of flexible and high-quality training environments for the imaging workforce, including clinical radiology, diagnostic radiography and sonography, medical physicists and imaging and mammography support workforceEnabled immersive training in priority areas to support rapid development of skills and learning trajectoryOptimisation of available teaching facultySupport the NHS England board''s purpose to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services, informing detailed design workEnabling local systems and providers to improve the health of people and patients and reduce health inequalitiesMaking the NHS a great place to work, where people can make a difference and achieve their potentialWorking collaboratively to ensure the healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate careOptimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovationDelivering value for money
