Who We AreSpecial People provides homecare and community support to children and adults with learning and physical disabilities across London. Our mission is to create a safe, healthy, and positive care environment for our service users and their families.
About the RoleWe are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to support children and young adults in living as independently as possible. You will work with people who have a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and mental health conditions.
Support may be provided in various settings, including:• Service users’ homes• Supported living environments• Health and social care settings• Community-based activities• Domiciliary care
Key Responsibilities• Assist with healthcare needs, including routine checks and medication administration• Provide physical support, including personal care and household tasks• Encourage personal development through hobbies and interests• Teach essential life skills such as shopping, using public transport, and managing finances
Essential Requirements• Reliability and strong time management• Compassion and a genuine desire to help others• Commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals• Ability to remain calm under pressure and in challenging situations• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships• Patience, emotional resilience, and empathy
Desirable Experience and Training We welcome applicants with experience or training in any of the following areas:• Manual Handling / Hoist• First Aid• Epilepsy Awareness• Medication Administration• PEG Feeding• BI PAP Ventilation• Autism Support• Managing Challenging Behaviour• Safeguarding Children and Adults
Additional Information• Competitive hourly rates: £13.15 – £20.00• Flexible working patterns• Ongoing training and development• Pension scheme and holiday entitlement• Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to undergo a check)• Two references required prior to start date
