We have an exciting opportunity for a

Head of Liability Trading

to join our Breeze Underwriting team at Geo Underwriting, Colchester, with hybrid working available.Responsibilities

Trading budget deliveryDrive financial performance and operational productivity to meet and exceed targetsLead a highly efficient trading cultureWork proactively and collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to maximize broker account performance, specifically with the broker relationship team and technical teams to maximise technical, service and resource performance and productivityPeople leadership, training and developmentSupport the business through full integration and alignment with GeoDevelop (in conjunction with the CUO office) and execute an underwriting strategy for Breeze UnderwritingEnsure adherence to the technical pricing model and framework to maximise risk selection within appetite and establish processes to monitor underwritingIdentify and implement opportunities to improve the underwriting footprint, for example using external data to determine geographical risk and pricing flexibilityMonitor underwriting results and other key metrics in conjunction with Pricing and Sales/Distribution to identify growth opportunities and establish remedial plansSupport the management of the internal Underwriting Governance Framework, including licensing, QA activity, internal audits and the authority/binder breach processesParticipate in new product innovation and existing product management to improve income and marginLead the liability trading teams across applicable locationsMonitor and anticipate customer needs and deliver against service proposition metricsMeet regularly with internal and external stakeholders to improve customer serviceCase underwriting and contribute towards growth through front line tradingQualifications and Experience

Liability underwriting experienceExperience within senior underwriting roles in the UK Insurance sectorWide exposure to all segments of the UK Retail and Wholesale insurance distributionSenior-level network within both intermediaries and insurersStrong operational and project management awarenessIdeally educated to degree standard and/or ACII qualifiedWhat we are looking for in our Head of Liability Trading:

Strong technical liability (construction classes in particular) knowledgeDeveloped broker and capacity relationshipsStrong customer focus and ability to motivate a team to share that focusKnowledge of the Insurance industry, MGAs and the Lloyds market with the ability to transfer this quickly to the business areaExcellent analytical skills with the ability to analyse base data and provide commercially sound and viable business solutionsAbility to communicate facts clearly both written and verbal to peers and senior management, adapting content and approach as necessaryVery strong influencing, negotiating and motivational skillsTrack record showing the ability to react positively and effectively to customer needsCommitment to lifelong learning and development of othersExperience of managing people with strong leadership skillsExcellent time management skillsAbility to work within a project environmentShow resilience and drive, be prepared to try new ways of working, accept change, adhere to new requirements and contribute towards problem solvingContinuously seeking new areas for improvement both personal and businessWe offer genuine potential for both personal and professional development.Please note: We may close a vacancy prior to the publish end date if the required quality or number of applications has been received.
