Department: International DevelopmentPosition: Assistant or Associate Professor in Development EconomicsInstitution: The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)The Department of International Development invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Development Economics. We are a vibrant multidisciplinary department seeking candidates at the frontier of macro- or micro- development economics, with strong skills in empirical causal inference and a demonstrated interest in field-based research.Responsibilities
Shape and contribute to the MSc in Economic Policy for International Development (EPID).Deliver high-quality teaching at the MSc and PhD levels to students across the department.Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration and contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding research.Participate in teaching as instructed by the Head of Department and participate in School and Departmental activities.Qualifications
Assistant Professor level: PhD (or near completion by start date) in a relevant field; demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative empirical research using modern causal inference methods; ability to publish internationally in top economics journals.Associate Professor level: additional evidence of world-leading research published in top economics journals, international reputation in development economics, a strong pipeline of work in progress, and a clear, well-developed future research strategy with potential for world-leading publications.Start Date
The start date is ideally by 1 September 2026.Salary and Benefits
Assistant Professor salary is no less than £68,087 per annum.Associate Professor salary is no less than £80,927 per annum.The salary scale is available on the LSE website; a significant market salary supplement may be applicable in some disciplines.Benefits include an occupational pension scheme, a dedicated research grants policy with personal reward options, generous research leave entitlement, and strong support and development opportunities.Application Information
