Learning Support Assistant – Post-16

A well-established further education college in Enfield is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team and support post-16 students across a range of foundation, vocational and academic courses.

You will be supporting students aged 16–24 with moderate SEND needs, including Autism (ASD) and ADHD, with some students displaying behaviours that can be challenging. The role involves providing in-class and, where required, 1:1 support to help students engage with their learning, develop independence and achieve their educational goals.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide classroom and 1:1 support to post-16 students with SEND.
• Support students with ASD, ADHD and associated behaviours that challenge.
• Help students remain engaged and focused during lessons.
• Support students to access the curriculum and develop their confidence and independence.
• Work closely with teaching staff to provide appropriate support.
• Encourage positive behaviour and use effective strategies to help students who may become dysregulated.
• Support students across a variety of academic, vocational and functional skills courses.

About You

The college is open to applications from both experienced Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Support Workers, as well as candidates with a strong interest in developing a career supporting young people.

You will ideally have experience working with young people and/or SEND, particularly Autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour. Most importantly, you will be patient, caring, reliable and confident in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning.
