Our Intelligent Infrastructure team improves the operational and safety performance of transportation networks, including aspects of new mobility such as human-centered design, connectivity, cyber security, and ZEVs. As a Graduate, you will support public sector clients in highways and rail with digital projects (operational technology; cyber security); infrastructure design standards; and research to inform public strategy and policy at local and national levels.Day-to-day activities by service area
Human Centered Design
Apply and integrate key principles of human factors, ergonomics and behaviour change to transportation or infrastructure projects and policies.Undertake research design, execution and reporting (quantitative and qualitative).Undertake user identification and profiling including behavioural insights.Undertake Human Factors assessments such as task analysis and risk analysis to inform infrastructure schemes and designs.Support the Capability Lead with client proposals.Policy Monitoring and Evaluation
Support multi-discipline monitoring and evaluation projects from scoping to design and delivery of evaluations of local and national transport policies.Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand intervention performance.Review, analyse and interpret data to provide monitoring and evaluation advice.Collaborate with other internal specialists to bring in subject matter expertise.Support the Capability Lead with client proposals.Tunnel Systems and Operations
Assist in delivering end-to-end tunnel systems projects across road, rail and utilities sectors.Prepare design drawings and documentation; participate in client meetings and workshops.Conduct industry research and collaborate with subject matter experts.Attend sites for inspections and support proposals.Systems and Infrastructure
Deliver technology and infrastructure solutions to manage road networks.Help define future traffic control technology strategies and test new technologies.Participate in design, testing and implementation of traffic control solutions.Lighting and Energy Solutions
Work on projects across lighting, electrical and energy capabilities, including local government and strategic road networks.Opportunity to pursue the Institution of Lighting Professionals Exterior Lighting Diploma within the first four years.Engage in data gap analysis, project administration, stakeholder engagement and reporting (including carbon assessments and cost/benefit calculations).Carry out lighting and electrical design using 2D/3D CAD tools.Graduate Development Programme
Two-year programme focused on personal and professional development through blended learning, networking, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. Route to Chartership and progression to senior technical or leadership roles may be available.What We will Be Looking For
You should have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject. You will be expected to demonstrate a passion for engineering and consultancy, an interest in the built environment, and an enthusiasm for creativity and problem solving. You will work with internal and external stakeholders and adapt to dynamic project environments.
