This position will be based in London (hybrid with 2 days per week work from home) and will report into a Private Investment Partner and work closely with the European Head of Cambridge Associates’ Retirement, Government, and Insurance Practice.
Responsibilities
Conduct Investment Research : evaluate private investment asset classes, products, and managers in collaboration with the team and global research. Lead investment due diligence on investment manager and research projects.
Understanding of global markets and investment managers : Stay abreast of market developments, actions, and changes to form a view on how client portfolios should be positioned.
Project Management : Lead investment related projects that have direct impact on strategic asset allocation decisions, business development or needed client service. Coordinate across groups and teams to ensure completion. Additionally, storyboard and lead projects related to ad-hoc client questions and requests.
Deliver strong client service through timely and strong written and verbal communications : Give recommendations to clients (and prospects) in a concise, transparent, and intuitive manner that is appropriate for audiences of varying investment expertise. Work with and present directly to clients; develop relationships with clients, including Investment Committees, CIO/CFO of client institutions, outside advisors, etc.
Support portfolio construction : Develop, implement, and review our client’s and prospective client’s private investments portfolios/programs. Source new investment opportunities by leveraging existing industry relationships, building new relationships, and identifying other creative sourcing channels in collaboration with the broader team. Model recommendations for pacing and allocation. Advise clients on their private investments portfolios, make recommendations on new commitments to funds and respond effectively to client inquiries.
Team engagement and management : Actively participate in all team meetings by being a thought partner. Provide oversight of analyst/associate level team members, which includes training and mentoring needs, performance reviews, and career development, and daily oversight to ensure high quality deliverables.
Qualifications
3-10 years of investment experience, gained from work in a similar capacity at either a family office, large institutional investor, fund-of-funds, or at a private equity investment firm.
Experience in research and due diligence, preferred.
Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail – ability to review, edit and ensure high quality deliverables.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize competing deliverables based on need and timing.
Able to work effectively with autonomy and collaborate effectively with integrated team.
Experience managing a team, including supervising more junior team members, preferred.
CFA and or MBA preferred.
Must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship or restriction now or in the future.
