Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer Our client develops and manufactures subsea systems and products used across Energy, Ocean Science, Offshore and Defence sectors. Their products are used for communication, navigation, sensing and positioning. You''ll provide senior electronic design expertise for advanced subsea instrumentation, including optical modem technology and seismic recorder electronics. A key part of the role is taking ownership of externally developed designs and source code, and making sure they become fully supportable, documented and production-ready in-house. Key responsibilitiesDevelop, review and modify electronics hardware, embedded firmware and FPGA designsTake ownership of inherited designs, source code, interfaces and test methodsWork on low-power, low-noise, reliable subsea electronics and electro-optical interfacesSupport optical link performance testing and optimisationUse embedded C, FPGA and Python for development, diagnosis and test automationHelp bring products to production readiness, including test fixtures and automated testProvide senior input on design reviews, integration, verification and fault findingProduce clear documentation, and work with internal teams and external partners to close design knowledge gaps Skills and experienceExpert: electronics design, low-power design, embedded C/C++, FPGA, fault finding, documentationCompetent: Altium PCB design, ADCs and precision acquisition, clocks and timing, communication protocols (SPI, I ..... full job details .....
