Senior Site Manager
Senior Site Manager
£65k-£70k plus package
Reading/North West London
The Company
One Site Manager stayed five years. Before him, many more. Our client—a 35-year-old main contractor owned by its employees—doesn''t have the churn problem. People arrive, settle, and build something. You''re probably solid where you are. But if you''ve ever wondered what it feels like to run sites for a business that actually means what it says about work-life balance, this might be the moment to listen.
The role
You''ll manage new build and refurbishment projects across commercial, education, and leisure—£1m to £10m—throughout the South East. Lead from the front as number one on site, directing contractors, operatives, and your own team. The pipeline is real and varied: residential, retail, healthcare, education. No feast-famine cycles. No panic-driven decisions. The business runs steady because it''s structured that way—employee-owned, profitable, and selective about the work it takes on.
The last person in this job ran it for five years before stepping back naturally. That tenure matters. It means the role sustains people, not burn them out.
Benefits
Managing multiple projects of genuine scale means your technical decisions matter. You''re not rubber-stamping templates—you''re solving real problems across different sectors and building types. So what? Which means you stay sharp, learn constantly, and build a portfolio that makes you more valuable every year. You''re building real expertise, not just hours.
Employee ownership changes the dynamic. Decisions favour long-term stability over short-term extraction. So what? Which means your site runs with support from above, not sabotage. You get resources when you need them because the business wins when *you* win. No politics. No bean-counting that leaves you stranded.
Work-life balance here isn''t a poster on the wall. It''s baked in—part of why people stay. So what? Which means you actually see your family, stay sane, and show up sharper tomorrow. Career progression is real: people move into Project and Contracts Management roles because they''ve proven themselves on site, not because someone left suddenly.
Location
The commute: most projects cluster around West London, Hounslow, Reading, and North West London. If you''re not local or willing to travel that corridor regularly, this won''t work. The upcoming projects are within these locations.
Requirements
Proven Site Manager experience on projects £1m+. Track record managing teams and contractors on mixed-use schemes. SMSTS and relevant site certifications current.
