About UsWe are seeking a collaborative and proactive Post Doctoral Research Associate to join a multi-national ERC Synergy Programme, EndoTheranostics, aiming to revolutionise Colorectal Cancer Treatment. The post-holder will work in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, King''s College London, with a team of investigators covering AI, computer vision, robotics, and medical imaging.

You will join a dynamic and successful team with access to both cutting-edge computer power and advanced image acquisition capabilities. Together, we are developing next-generation Ai-assisted robots for colorectal cancer treatment.

About The RoleEndoTheranostics aims to transform the screening and treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) through the development of a novel soft tip-growing eversion robot. The system integrates robotics, multimodal imaging, and AI-assisted diagnostics to enable safer and more effective screening and therapy.

The postholder will focus on developing and applying advanced computer vision and machine learning methods for multimodal imaging and real-time analysis in colorectal cancer screening and treatment. They will contribute to the design of AI algorithms for polyp detection, tissue characterization, and visual guidance of robotic intervention.

This is a full time, and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 2 years.

About YouTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

PhD qualified in relevant subject area (or nearing completion)

Good knowledge of computer vision algorithms for image and video processing

Strong experience in machine learning or deep learning for medical image analysis

Strong programming skills in Python, with additional experience in C/C++ or other object oriented languages

Experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow for computer vision tasks

Track record of publications in relevant research fields

Desirable criteria

Multi-modal image analysis expertise

Real-time detection and segmentation methods for clinical applications

Surgical video analysis, e.g. workflow recognition, polyp detection, or tissue characterization

3D reconstruction or geometric modelling from medical images

Translational research in collaboration with clinical partners

Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
