School Premises Officer / Caretaker
Hays Education is supporting a welcoming school in the north-west Leicester area seeking an experienced Premises Officer/Caretaker to join their team on a temporary basis. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.
THE ROLE
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and site inspections
- Opening and locking the school premises, including alarm duties
- Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained across the site
- Supporting contractors and overseeing site-related works
- Checking school facilities, equipment and outdoor areas
- Assisting with school events, lettings and day-to-day site operations
- Recording maintenance activities and reporting any issues
WHAT WE''RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous experience working in a school premises, caretaker or facilities role (essential)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Good practical maintenance and repair skills
- A proactive, reliable and organised approach to work
- Understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
