Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and looking for a long-term opportunity within a specialist secondary setting?
We are currently recruiting for a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Merton.
The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, and the successful candidate will play an important role in helping students access their education, develop independence and achieve their individual goals.
The Role
You will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to support pupils both academically and pastorally.
The role will involve a mixture of classroom-based support, small-group work and individual interventions.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils across the secondary curriculum.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
- Help pupils manage barriers to learning.
- Support communication, social skills and independence.
- Assist with differentiated classroom activities.
- Implement individual support strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEN team.
- Support pupils with their EHCP targets.
- Build positive relationships with students.
The Ideal Candidate

- Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.
Previous experience in a specialist secondary setting is desirable, but applicants with strong mainstream SEN experience are also encouraged to apply.
