Avanti Recruitment is currently working with a leading, award-winning FinTech who are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to take responsibility for engineering leadership and delivery. The business provides cutting-edge financial technology solutions to global financial institutions and has been recognised for excellence and innovation across the sector.The Role

You will be responsible for leading and mentoring the engineering team, ensuring delivery excellence, operational resilience, and platform growth. This role combines technical leadership with people management and requires someone confident in engineering delivery, incident management, platform operations, and client support.This role will require you in office 4 days per week and located in Surrey. The company is a small team of around 3 Developers, 1 Tester + 8 people (front office).Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering teamOversee agile delivery, backlog management, and release planningEnsure platform stability through monitoring, incident management, and post-mortemsImplement robust security and compliance practicesManage vendor relationships and operational budgetsSupport client onboarding and resolve platform-related issuesExperience

Strong background in Java development (Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST)Experience in engineering management or technical leadershipKnowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code)Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk)Strong incident management skills and operational mindsetExcellent communication skills for both internal leadership and client-facing situationsInterview process
