Biomedical Scientist (BMS)Key ResponsibilitiesPerform analytical testing and validation of patient samples within Blood Sciences disciplines.Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analysers and automation systems.Process urgent, routine, and specialist investigations accurately and within turnaround times.Review and authorise results in line with SOPs, competency levels, and quality standards.Participate in IQC/EQA programmes and maintain compliance with ISO 15189 and UKAS standards.Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure sample traceability.Follow Health and Safety, COSHH, and infection control procedures.Support the training of junior staff and contribute to service improvement initiatives.Work collaboratively with clinicians, nurses, and laboratory colleagues to support patient care.Essential Qualifications and ExperienceDegree in Biomedical Science or equivalent recognised qualification.HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.IBMS accredited degree.Experience working within a Blood Sciences or Pathology laboratory.Knowledge of Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, or Blood Transfusion.Experience using LIMS and understanding laboratory quality standards.Essential SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Competent IT and data management abilities.DesirableIBMS Specialist Portfolio completion.NHS ..... full job details .....
