Sous Chef , you''ll work closely with the Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, lead and inspire the team, and help deliver consistently high food standards. You''ll contribute to menu planning, manage service during busy shifts, and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes-whether it''s a busy restaurant day or a high-profile event.Venue Overview:
Restaurant covers:
300 - 700 customers per day
Events:
Up to 250 guests per event
Team size:
Up to 8 chefs and 25 front-of-house staff
Shifts:
Flexible across Tuesday - Sunday (7am - 6pm); evenings required for events
Open on Bank Holidays and Mondays during school half-terms
Closed on:
Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year''s Day, and Easter Sunday
Paid overtime for additional hours
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Chef with all aspects of kitchen leadership and daily operation
Lead and motivate the kitchen brigade during service, especially in the Head Chef''s absence
Train, develop, and support junior team members to uphold high culinary standards
Oversee food preparation, portioning, and presentation to ensure consistency
Help manage stock rotation, supplier orders, and kitchen waste within budget
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
Collaborate with FOH and event teams to ensure smooth service during large functions
Assist with menu development and seasonal updates
What We''re Looking For:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a busy kitchen
Strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to service
Passion for food quality and customer experience
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to thrive in high-volume settings
Solid knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends as required
