Assistant Design Manager

Salary: Up to -65,000 per annum

Ridgeway & Co are currently recruiting for an Assistant Design Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering a major education project based in Wembley.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Design Manager or Design Coordinator looking to progress their career with a well-established contractor, supporting the delivery of a high-profile project from pre-construction through to completion.

The Role

Working alongside the Design Manager, you will support the coordination and management of the design process, ensuring all design information is delivered on time, within budget and in line with project requirements. You will liaise closely with consultants, project teams and subcontractors to help drive the project through each stage of the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Design Manager throughout the pre-construction and construction phases.

• Assist in coordinating architects, consultants and design teams.

• Ensure designs are compliant, buildable and cost-effective.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams.

• Coordinate the preparation, review and distribution of design information.

• Ensure all documentation is managed in line with document control procedures.

• Support the commercial and procurement teams with design packages and procurement strategies.

• Attend and contribute to design team meetings.

• Assist with managing design risks and resolving technical issues.

• Support design quality reviews and project handovers.

• Help ensure designs comply with Building Regulations and project specifications.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Construction, Architecture, Building Services or a related discipline.

• Previous experience working for a main contractor.

• Experience supporting the design process on construction projects.

• Good understanding of the Design & Build process.

• Knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work.

• Strong technical understanding of construction detailing.

• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

• Experience working on education projects would be advantageous.
