Senior Data EngineerSalary: Upto £60,000 per annum + PackageRegional Office Worker: Birmingham - Site based and Homeworking + Organised Travel to Birmingham requiredThe Senior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure and systems. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth flow of data, optimise data processing and storage, and contribute to the development of scalable data solutions.
What you will be doing
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure the efficient collection, storage, and processing of large volumes of structured and unstructured data
Collaborate with BI developers, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement robust data solutions
Optimise data storage and retrieval mechanisms for performance and scalability, including implementing data partitioning, indexing, and compression strategies
Implement data quality and data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards
Perform data modelling and schema design to support data analysis, reporting, and visualisation needs
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identify, and resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure data integrity and availability
To be successful you require
Degree Qualification in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Proven experience as a Data Engineer
Strong proficiency in Python and experience with data manipulation frameworks such as Apache Spark
In-depth knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, data modelling, and SQL
Experience with cloud platforms including Azure Synapse and Fabric
Proficiency in designing and implementing data pipelines using technologies
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling, and data integration techniques
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex data-related issues and propose effective solutions
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in an iterative development environment
