Job Title: Back End Software Engineer
Location: Remote (Quarterly Planning Sessions Required)
Remuneration: -600 per day via Umbrella Company
Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract, 6 Months (Scope for Extension)

Overview
Our client is seeking a senior Back End Software Engineer to take the reins in designing, building, and supporting scalable cloud and on-premise platforms. This exciting role focuses on enhancing system performance, reliability, security, and automation while collaborating with development, QA, DevOps, and operational teams. The successful candidate will be a technical subject matter expert, driving engineering best practises and operational excellence in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy scalable, high-performance backend systems and platforms.
• Monitor, maintain, and optimise large-scale distributed systems.
• Automate deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and configuration management processes.
• Lead incident resolution, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities.
• Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and resilience requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, DevOps, and support teams to enhance platform performance.
• Support capacity planning and initiatives for future scalability.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Champion Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Solid understanding of containerisation and orchestration technologies.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong scripting or programming skills, particularly in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• In-depth knowledge of large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or ELK.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
