Assistant Project Manager / Health & Safety Officer

Our client, a specialist Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager or Health & Safety Officer to join the-team on a major project in Newport.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong understanding of construction health and safety, site compliance, and project support within the groundworks and civils sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and updating RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
• Conducting site inductions for all personnel and visitors
• Monitoring and maintaining site safety compliance
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and current HSE legislation
• Carrying out site inspections and safety audits
• Assisting site management with project documentation and reporting
• Supporting subcontractor management and compliance checks
• Maintaining health and safety records and documentation
• Promoting a positive safety culture across the project

Requirements

• Previous experience within Groundworks, Civil Engineering, or Construction environments
• NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and site compliance requirements
• Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and proactively on a busy construction site
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
