We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Commercial and Business Development Manager to provide leadership and management of the business development and growth strategy for the centre. This position will play a pivotal role in overseeing the implementation of a coordinated commercial strategy, as well as formulating and delivering a business development strategy for our unique, private patient day-case offering.This role will direct all commercial related activities, including marketing, referrer engagement and insurer pathways, in line with the Welbeck commercial team objectives, and have overarching responsibility for local referrer engagement events. The main day-to-day focus for this role will be developing and maintaining key customer relationships to win and maintain market share of consultant practice and GP referrals. This position is line managed by the Centre Director but is supported by the Chief Development Officer, Commercial Director, Business Development Director and key members of the central commercial and business development teams.Job Responsibilities

You will work predominantly Monday-Friday around the core hours of 9-6pm, however will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the role which will require evening meetings and events outside core hours.You will be responsible for driving growth in centre activity and revenue by formulating and delivering the business development strategy, in collaboration with the Centre Director and Doctor Commercial Director. This role will create, and gain agreement, on the commercial and business development plans linked to revenue generation targets, with key objectives and strategies for each core customer group. You will translate centrally driven commercial strategies into centre focused commercial plans and manage the delivery of these to ensure that the centre is making progress towards its targets.You will have responsibilities as part of the senior leadership team including engaging with new doctor leads, partner development, medical secretary engagement and clinician practising privileges onboarding. You will be required to lead the centre’s Commercial Committee, report into the Joint Venture Operating Board and participate in the Clinical Specialist Boards as required. You will line manage the Referral Liaison Lead position, holding the responsibility for selecting, orientating, supervising and evaluating performance.Commercial Strategy and Implementation

Lead on the design and implementation of centre’s commercial strategy aligned with the centrally defined commercial strategyResponsibility for commercial contracts such as local corporates, military bases and health screening contractsDevelop and maintain a tactical business development plan to meet and exceed activity and revenue targets across self-pay and insured pathwaysUse all marketing and performance data avenues available to monitor, analyse and report activity, adjusting strategies and action plans accordinglyLeading cross-specialty activities and regularly reviewing progress against plan, for example in the delivery of campaigns and implementing new propositions to ensure the buy-in of all relevant partiesBusiness Development and Strategic Contribution

Build a strong knowledge of our customer base and clinical USPs to keep our overall commercial strategy aligned with the wide organisation goalsMaximise patient activity and hospital capacity by supporting efficient scheduling, tracking consultant utilisation, and contributing to revenueParticipate in the quality governance structure for the centre with clinical specialist boards, centre committees and joint venture operating boardScoping and delivery of new propositions, including defining commercial potential, target audience, customer experience, and pricing in coordination with centre directors and operational teamsPerformance Management and Deliverables

Ownership of centre Commercial Committee, leading the discussion and engaging key stakeholders in commercial activitiesResponsibility for tracking outreach activity on HubSpot, monitoring progress and performance against quarterly and annual KPIs across the business, and reporting on key metrics to be presented at board and to business performance teamsAdapting performance measurement and reporting as the commercial function grows, to enable the most valuable information to be analysed for continuous improvement in day-to-day management and for senior management reportsOverseeing budget and spend for the regional centre, keeping activities within monthly commercial budgets and forecasting recommended annual spend to achieve commercial activitiesSupport the centre’s clinical acquisition, onboarding and engagement plans to drive growth in key clinical servicesLead a robust account management programme across the senior team, ensuring strong working relationships with key consultantsOptimise consultant availability to meet service demand and maximise conversion of any enquiries to revenue generating activitySupport the Centre Director in identifying and implementing new services, pathways, and revenue-generating opportunities, including engaging with consultants to promote and develop their practiceStakeholder Engagement and Business Development

Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships that support sustainable business developmentTaking ownership of expanding GP (Private and NHS) and corporate referrer engagement in the region, along with current relationship managementIdentify new service lines and speciality opportunities in line with market demand, and work with operational teams to implementParticipate in initiatives to grow market share and enhance the centre’s reputation in the local communityLiaising between commercial and business performance teams to align commercial plans with operational capacity and readinessMarketing Assets and Campaigns

Cascade multichannel central marketing campaigns locally and across digital, print and in person formatsProvide support and brand-compliant resources for local marketing collateral and campaigns such as consultant directories and product launchesManage marketing admin tasks including raising POs, logging invoices, and maintaining the marketing budget trackerLiaise with vendors (e.g. printers, tracking providers, event platforms) and ensure campaign costs are controlled and reconciledExperience / Qualifications / Skills

Degree educated or equivalent professional qualification5+ years’ experience in business development / sales and marketingProven experience in the business development within the healthcare industryAble to evidence strong knowledge of account management and customer relationship managementDemonstrable experience in strategic planning and deliveryExperience in commercial delivery, particularly in reporting progress against key metrics and presenting this for senior managementEffective presentation and communication skills and comfortable delivering presentationsStrong stakeholder management skills and able to balance sometimes conflicting viewsProactive individual who can drive forward activities across cross-functional teams and take the lead in often ambiguous circumstancesHighly organised and able to coordinate multiple complex projectsProject management experience, including prioritisation of tasks and setting realistic timelinesData analysis experience and comfortable creating visual performance reporting dashboardsInnovative approach to solutions and able to adapt role within a fast-paced and evolving business without pre-defined processes to followMarketing experience preferential to assist the team with identifying audience, channel strategy and effectivenessPreferred background in healthcare, a strong passion for the sector and driving positive change is essentialExperience of line managing staff and associated HR tasksUnderstanding of private healthcare pathways for self-pay and/or privately insured patientsPrevious stakeholder relationship with consultants and medical secretaries
