Based out of Darwen/Hull sites. Logistics done differently.Our business is growing, and we are seeking high-achieving managers with a solid transport and warehousing background, experience in managing multiple sites or contracts, a good understanding of operational cost and strong PandL management.We are currently recruiting for a General Manager who will cover two sites in Darwen and Hull. You can be based at either site and will oversee and travel to the second site. You will be responsible for leading the operations, developing teams and maintaining regular interaction with customers. Private medical cover, a variety of high-street discounts, cycle to work scheme, workplace pension, wellbeing offering and other benefits — details available on request.What you’ll do on a typical day:Be accountable for the operational and financial performance of multiple sites across a central region.Promote a safety culture throughout the network by leading, participating in and supporting safety campaigns and initiatives.Provide operational leadership to the team of Site Managers by setting achievable goals and encouraging innovation.Develop a clear understanding of financial and operational metrics to ensure sites balance cost and service.Champion engagement and welfare across the sites with a focus on colleague retention and minimal attrition.Interact with internal and external customers to understand requirements and identify opportunities to expand relationships.Ensure sites comply with legislative and internal processes, taking timely action where needed.Encourage and support development and progression within the team and devise clear succession plans for each site.Maintain a visible presence across the network, understanding service offerings and developing a culture of continuous improvement.Actively participate in daily processes including network calls, finance reviews and QSHE meetings.What you need to succeed at XPO:Senior management experience within the transport/warehousing sectorAbility to work autonomously with initiative after objectives are agreedExperience in managing multiple sites or contractsProven capability to create high-performance teams in various scenarios (e.g., new business implementation, operational improvement)Ability to build strong and lasting commercial relationshipsDemonstrable commercial and financial acumenAbility to manage multiple reporting lines effectivelyAbility to manage complexity and uncertaintyWe strive to create an inclusive environment for all colleagues.
