Health and Safety OfficerRate: £26.81 per hour (Umbrella)Location: Nuneaton (with borough-wide travel and site attendance required)Contract End Date: 7 months durationOverviewA local authority is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to support the delivery of a proactive, compliant and practical health and safety service across a range of council operations.The role requires regular on-site presence and active engagement with managers and operational teams to drive improvements in health and safety performance and culture.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out HandS audits, inspections, and site visits across council servicesInvestigate accidents/incidents and ensure effective corrective actionsProvide advice and guidance to managers across operational risk areasDeliver HandS training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessionsSupport development and review of risk assessments (COSHH, DSEAR, etc.)Work with managers to develop and maintain Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)Produce reports, policies, and committee papersMonitor compliance with relevant HandS legislation and standardsSupport closure of audit actions and continuous improvementLiaise with internal and external stakeholders including unions and insurersEssential RequirementsExperience in a health and safety advisory roleLocal authority or unionised environment experienceExperience conducting HandS audits and inspectionsStrong experience delivering HandS training and presentationsKnowledge of "Big Six" hazardsCDM experience (Client/PD ..... full job details .....
