Principal Engineer – Site Engineering AuthorityLocation: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.Salary: Competitive (dependent on skills and experience)Purpose: Provide independent engineering governance and assurance across all assets within your prescribed area, acting as the Engineering Authority for your domain.Responsibilities
Act as Engineering Authority for your prescribed area, covering all buildings and assets, providing independent governance and assurance across assets.Provide technical and specialist engineering advice and support to maintenance, operations and project teams.Produce/approve engineering functional requirements, accept design solutions, maintain oversight, and validate engineering integrity.Protect and maintain the engineering baseline for all accepted assets and infrastructure within your area, including configuration management and change control.Develop, manage and control planned maintenance schedules and approve maintenance concessions.Provide engineering governance and assurance for all projects within your area throughout the full project lifecycle, including role as Design Review Chairperson.Provide asset risk management and support risk-based investment prioritisation and decision-making for asset-related investments.Deliver Asset Management plans for key assets to meet current and future boat programme requirements.Offer engineering advice and support to equipment breakdowns and lead recovery activities.Qualifications
Essential
Degree level qualification in engineering or related discipline, or sufficient relevant experience to become a Chartered Engineer.Experience with Asset Management and Facilities Management.Desirable
Experience with management of nuclear classified systems including design, operation and/or modifications.Experience in related industries such as Nuclear, Oil and Gas.Benefits

An exciting opportunity to join as a Principal Engineer, providing engineering assurance across the site within projects, process and operations. The team offers technical oversight and leadership to site-wide fixed assets to support the boat build programme, ensuring facilities, infrastructure and assets are available and performing when required. The team acts as a verification function to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, site license conditions and business processes, supported by specialist engineering teams.Relocation support packages are available for Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.Why join us?
