Payroll Specialist - International
Overview:
As our clients Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payrolls across multiple international regions including the UK, Middle East & Europe. This role supports payroll operations for several entities, ensuring adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements, while also contributing to system upgrades and data validation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and verify payroll data including new starters, leavers, and employee changes.
- Ensure payrolls are delivered on schedule and in compliance with internal audit controls.
- Collaborate with HR and regional teams to ensure country-specific procedures are followed.
- Prepare and process payrolls for countries across the group.
- Support payroll-related projects such as system enhancements and data reconciliation.
- Manage escalations and resolve payroll-related issues, seeking support when necessary.
- Implement and test changes in payroll applications.
- Liaise with external payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely service delivery.
- Assist in developing and improving payroll processes and procedures.
- Calculate statutory payments such as SSP and SMP.
- Ensure accurate processing of employee lifecycle events.
- Submit year-end returns for relevant jurisdictions.
- Conduct self-audits and compliance checks, including SOX testing.
- Support accounting functions related to payroll, including journal preparation and distribution.
- Respond to payroll queries from internal stakeholders across various departments.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and customer service.
- Stay current with payroll legislation and best practices across supported countries.
Qualifications:
- CIPP qualification desirable but not essential.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong working knowledge of payroll systems (experience with ADP preferred).
- Up-to-date understanding of UK and International payroll legislation and employment regulations across multiple regions.
- Proven ability to provide clear guidance on complex payroll matters.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player with a performance-driven mindset.
- Adaptable to changing environments and tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Solid understanding of payroll accounting principles.
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid working model (3 days in officer - Fareham)
Experience:
- Previous experience in a payroll function within a similarly scaled and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience processing payrolls across various regions.
- Familiarity with payroll accounting and reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong background in customer support and stakeholder engagement.
