Communications Officer (Maternity Cover) – Marketing and CommunicationsSalary: Grade 6, £34,350 – £37,968 per annum. Appointments will normally be made to the first point of the grade. Location: London. This post is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis and is available from November 2025.The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world-leading music conservatoire and a dynamic hub for activity across the campus. The Marketing and Communications team is looking for a proactive, creative, experienced Communications Officer to raise the RCM’s profile and promote our initiatives to a global audience. The role will produce web news stories showcasing College activity as well as key internal communications for staff and students, presenting complex information clearly via email, newsletters or video.Responsibilities

Support the management of the RCM’s public relations activities and the production of communications-related media.Produce web news stories that reflect the breadth of College activity and promote key initiatives.Deliver clear internal communications for staff and students, tailoring messages to different audiences (students, staff, alumni).Contribute to multi-channel campaigns, including social media and briefing audio-visual content as appropriate.Develop and maintain a communications calendar and manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.Assist with crisis communications and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.Utilise high-level IT/digital media skills, including audio-visual equipment, social media platforms and desktop publishing.Qualifications and Skills

Proven experience in a similar communications role, in a media handling environment, a creative higher education (HE) environment, or in the wider creative and cultural industries.Strong writing and editorial skills with the ability to summarise complex information for diverse audiences (students, staff, alumni).Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a busy workload across multiple campaigns.Good media contacts and awareness of the Higher Education landscape.High-level IT/digital media skills, including use and development of audio-visual equipment and software; social media platforms; and desktop publishing.Additional Information
