Deputy Manager

Children''s Residential Home

The Hamnet Way is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and operational management of a children''s residential home.

This role is ideal for an established residential childcare professional who combines strong safeguarding knowledge, operational capability and people leadership with a genuine commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes for children.

About the Role

Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will support the safe, effective and compliant operation of the home while maintaining a visible leadership presence within the service.

You will lead staff teams, drive quality standards, support continuous improvement and ensure the home remains inspection-ready at all times.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Leadership & Operations

• Leading shifts and ensuring effective service delivery.
• Managing staffing arrangements and operational priorities.
• Deputising for the Registered Manager.
• Participating in the on-call rota.
• Supporting service development and improvement plans.

Quality & Compliance

• Maintaining Ofsted readiness.
• Completing audits and quality assurance activities.
• Monitoring records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Supporting implementation of policies and procedures.

People Leadership

• Mentoring, coaching and developing staff.
• Supporting supervision and performance management processes.
• Promoting accountability and professional practice.
• Embedding a positive and reflective team culture.

Safeguarding & Care

• Maintaining a strong safeguarding culture.
• Supporting therapeutic and trauma-informed practice.
• Ensuring children receive high-quality, individualised care.
• Promoting positive outcomes and stability.

Requirements

Essential:

• Experience in children''s residential care.
• Experience leading teams and shifts.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Strong safeguarding knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

• Existing Deputy Manager experience.
• Working towards or holding a Level 5 qualification.
• Experience supporting inspections and quality improvement initiatives.
