Senior Quantity Surveyor - North London
An established independent construction consultancy in North London is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their close-knit professional team. Delivering cost consultancy services across residential, commercial and refurbishment-led projects, this is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership of commissions and working directly with clients.
The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage projects from early feasibility and cost planning through tendering, construction and final account. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with developers, architects, contractors and wider design teams, providing practical commercial advice while maintaining strong control of project budgets and contractual matters.
This role would suit a confident Senior Quantity Surveyor who prefers the autonomy and direct client exposure of an independent consultancy. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be trusted to lead projects, manage client expectations and contribute to the continued development of long-standing relationships. For a commercially capable Senior Quantity Surveyor, the position offers genuine scope to broaden responsibilities and progress within the business.
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:
Leading cost management commissions from feasibility through to final account
Preparing estimates, detailed cost plans and project budgets
Producing tender documentation and managing contractor procurement
Advising clients on procurement strategy and contractual matters
Managing valuations, variations, change control and payment recommendations
Preparing regular financial reports and project forecasts
Negotiating final accounts and resolving commercial issues
Attending client, design team and site meetings
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline
Strong UK PQS or cost consultancy experience
MRICS qualified or actively progressing through the RICS APC
Good working knowledge of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes
Experience managing projects through both pre- and post-contract stages
Residential, commercial or refurbishment experience would be advantageous
Strong client-facing, commercial and organisational skills
Ability to independently manage multiple commissions
In Return:
-70,000 - -80,000 per annum
North London Office Base
