Astute''s Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a key player in the global energy from waste and organics field. We have been selected and retained to source a Director of Operations and Maintenance in the anaerobic digestion / renewable gas field to cover the UK market, with some influence and jurisdiction over a couple of assets in Germany too. This is a highly unique opportunity to become a senior leader within a primary business within the green energy sector.

The Director of Operations & Maintenance will cover a portfolio of biogas assets and will come with a comprehensive, six figure salary and extended package.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to a Senior Director you will:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive O&M strategy for all renewable gas O&M units
• Establish and grow the O&M business unit, securing new contracts and partnerships
• Lead contract negotiations for O&M services, ensuring financial viability and long-term sustainability
• Advise & support the O&M site teams in transition from an EPC project to O&M services
• Develop and manage budgets for the O&M business, ensuring financial health and sustainability
• Identify and mitigate financial, operational and regulatory risks
• Implement and champion the best HSE practices across the portfolio
• Support the O&M teams with continuous improvement projects, plant availability and performance
• Develop relations across the O&M portfolio to foster a collaborative and progressive environment
• Travel around the portfolio to ensure you have site presence
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Over 10 years experience in an engineering biased, operational leadership role
• Degree in an engineering discipline
• Experience running a portfolio of anaerobic digestion plants is hugely beneficial, with any international experience preferred too
• A strong understanding of both O&M and how it affects plant performance
• Proven leadership and management skills
• Ability to work in a matrix and to utilise company resources effectively
• Managing teams in different countries with different cultures is preferred
• Strong financial acumen with good negotiation skills
