Pastry Chef - London Company DescriptionJamie Oliver''s Catherine Street is housed in a Grade I listed building in London''s Covent Garden, Catherine Street is an independent, produce-focused restaurant.Within the 130 cover space, diners experience their favourite dishes from Jamie along with new recipes bespoke to Catherine Street.PositionAs a member of Jamie''s Pastry team, you''ll be working in a dedicated, separate and wide ranging pastry kitchen. Everything is made in house from restaurant desserts, ice-creams, show stopping cakes to afternoon tea! We also cater for high profile events so there is never a dull day!This is a unique opportunity to help us grow an exciting new venture for our business. Not only is the opportunity a unique one, but the working pattern and hours are too. The successful candidate will work a 42 hour week which will mostly cover day shifts between Monday -Sunday. There will be times that evening and late night shifts are required however this role offers a great work life balance whilst still being a chance to learn and hone your skills.WHAT YOU''RE HERE TO DODemonstrate efficient time keeping, presentation, attention to detail and workflowHave good pastry knowledge and skills and a willingness to learn and developHave a full understanding of COSHH, health and safety, allergens, temperature records, labelling of fridges and food including blast chilling and maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and up-keep of equipmentEnsure the mise en place of the kitchen is performed to high standards required at all timesMaintain the high presentation, correct plating and cooking of food at all times with guidance from Pastry Head and Sous ChefMaintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new and existing members of staff and assisting in their training when requiredEnsure daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties are carried out as instructed by Pastry Head and Sous ChefCommunicate any issues directly to Pastry Head and Sous ChefMaintain effective working relationships with Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group and LWT staffRequirementsWHAT YOU NEEDStrong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyTo provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all timesMaintain good working relationships with your colleagues and all departmentsTo ensure you, as an employee, report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform at all times, maintaining the highest standard in hygiene and groomingTo be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capacity as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments if required, to meet business demands and guest service needsFully understand opening and closing process and how to write and follow a prep listComplete understanding and demonstration of recipe knowledge and portion controlCarry out any other reasonable duty that may be requested by the managerTo attend meetings and training as and when requiredOther informationANYTHING ELSEGenerous and competitive benefits package including:Fantastic central london location in Covent Garden, very close to transport linksFree, delicious and nutritious meals on shiftGenerous family packageDiscount on meals in Catherine Street for you and your familyOpportunity to join a company that will invest heavily in its people and their careersLots of internal and external training and development opportunitiesRegular team socialising eventsRegular educational supplier tripsOpportunity to take a sabbatical42 hour working weekAnd many more details to follow!
