This role provides business partnering and analytical support to the Retail channel, owns the month-end processes for retail (including the preparation and posting of journals), and ensures that all numbers in the retail PandL are correctly accounted for each month with variances to budget/forecast understood. The role collaborates with the retail operations team to manage the cost base and supports the sales and operating cost budgeting and forecasting process for retail.In addition, this role involves producing weekly and monthly business reports, developing tools and templates to drive sales and manage costs, and offering ad-hoc commercial and analytical support as needed (e.g., shop profitability analysis, sales trend analysis, store cost control, and trading activity performance).What you’ll be doing
Provide financial and commercial support to stores, area managers, the head office retail team and the retail director.Own weekly trade reporting, with clear and detailed financial analysis on store trading performances, including insights and recommendations to maximise store performance.Own month-end processes, including preparation and posting of journals.Produce monthly divisional and store PandLs, and hold PandL reviews with area managers to review store performance and drive action.Identify and drive process improvements in month-end and trade reporting tasks through automation and simplification.Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for all store cost areas, including phasing, drivers, timelines and deliverables.Provide insights to improve the profitability of the Retail channel.Provide ad-hoc analysis and insight on retail performance.Support the Central Property team, including month-end close, budgeting and forecasting, and ad-hoc tasks.The Skills And Experience You’ll Need
Part qualified AccountantPrior experience in a business partnering and/or commercial finance role, preferably in retail, FMCG or similarExcellent Excel skillsFamiliar with forecasting and budgeting processStrong interest in understanding the key drivers of the businessAble to work in partnership with the business to drive operational improvementsAbility to communicate effectively across Finance and Non-Finance stakeholders, as well as senior managementHighly adaptable and able to work to tight deadlines and/or varying prioritiesTake full ownership and accountability over designated areas of responsibilitiesWhat will make you brilliant
