SEMH Teaching AssistantLocation: MertonPay: £95 - £115 per dayContract Type: Long-term, Full-timeStart Date: ASAP / April 2026Commutable from: Sutton, Wandsworth, Kingston, and Lambeth Long Term Futures is partnering with a Merton based school specialising in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant. This school provides a tailored curriculum for pupils who have found mainstream settings challenging, focusing on emotional regulation alongside academic progress. Responsibilities Support pupils with complex SEMH needs and associated conditions such as ADHD or Autism.Work 1:1 with students to help them manage their emotions and engage with classroom activities.Assist the class teacher in delivering modified lessons that cater to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).Use de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.Foster a sense of belonging and confidence in students who may have had negative prior experiences with education. Essential Candidate Requirements Experience working with SEMH, ASC, or challenging behaviour (within a school, youth club, or care setting).A calm, thick-skinned, and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable young people.The ability to remain professional and composed during high-pressure situations.Strong literacy and numeracy skills to assist with Key Stage 1-4 curriculum tasks.A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply ..... full job details .....
