Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to support the co-ordination of care delivery within NUPAS Staffordshire/Midlands clinical services. The post holder will manage the clinical teams with the support of a Deputy and manage clinics to achieve group objectives and comply with corporate strategy, using the corporate framework to support the principle of the right of people to limit the size of their family.

Responsibilities

Leadership

Work with the Head of Nursing to Lead and develop Nurse Led Clinics which will include the development of a workforce plan.

Work with the Head of Nursing to develop a training plan to support the development of Nurse Led Clinics to include the identification of training needs through the appraisal process and to develop a training programme to ensure all staff reach their full potential. This will include the development of a competency assessment framework to support new roles and skills and ensure that all staff are able to provide a safe clinical service.

Provide hands-on clinical care as appropriate and in liaison with the Regional Manager.

Ensure that clinical rotas are in place and that adequately skilled staff are rostered. Ensure contingency plans are in place when required.

Identify gaps in skills and workforce and liaise with the Regional Manager and the Head of Nursing to alleviate this.

Lead the development and implementation of guidelines, protocols and clinical policies and procedures including the roll-out of policies to clinical teams within the Staffordshire/Midlands region.

Provide quality leadership to the clinical team and ensure they are responsible for their own learning and actions which must always be in the best interests of the patient.

Ensure that resources are used effectively, efficiently, and appropriately.

Work with the Regional Manager to ensure clinics are fully compliant with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission and the RSOPs for termination services.

Work with the Regional Manager to ensure the clinics are fully compliant with Infection Control and Health and Safety regulations.

Work with the Regional Manager to ensure that the service is provided within the financial parameters agreed.

Patient Care

Co-ordinate the services across the region to ensure the delivery of a high standard of patient care and safety.

Identify and escalate any risk or safeguarding concerns to senior colleagues and actively seek to reduce or eliminate those concerns identified in a positive manner. To embrace safeguarding mechanisms and support staff, patients and supporters at times when safeguarding principles need to be applied.

Implement programmes of care for patients in accordance with appropriate care pathways and evaluate their effectiveness.

Deliver safe and effective family planning and sexual health care.

Recognise and respect a patient''s right to dignity and respect at all times.

Ensure the full and accurate completion of all patient documentation.

Ensure that treatment areas, including theatres, are prepared for treatments and ensure equipment is regularly checked to ensure it is clean, safe and in good working order.

Ensure that the right number of staff, with the right skills are in the right place to provide patient care.

Work with the Regional Manager to regularly review the results of the patient questionnaires in order to learn from them and develop the service accordingly.

Ensure that the clinics are regularly monitored for effectiveness and to ensure the environment complies with statutory regulations.

Clinical Practice

Work with the clinical teams to support them in ensuring patients are provided with relevant information and support to enable them to make an informed choice and with nursing interventions based on evidence-based practice.

Work with clinical teams to ensure the provision of specialist holistic care supplying contraception and medicines in line with company policies.

Support and develop the clinical teams to ensure the correct protocols are used for patients of different ages and with differing needs - considering safeguarding and mental capacity.

Support the clinical teams to provide any necessary screening for sexually transmitted infections.

Ensure that all clinical team member practice is compliant with the NMC Code of Conduct for qualified nursing staff.

Professional Development

Ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory training requirements and ensure that all clinical staff across the region comply with the requirements.

Provide induction, training and support to new staff and ensure that their development needs are appropriately met.

Undertake appraisals with all clinical staff to identify development needs.

In conjunction with the Regional Manager ensure learning needs have been identified through the appraisal process and there is an effective training plan put in place to support CPD.

Experience

Essential:

Ability to communicate effectively, ability to identify and quickly defuse challenging situations, ability to understand boundaries, and work in a sensitive, confidential and non-judgemental way. Able to work effectively as a member of a team and contribute effectively with internal/external multi professional teams, demonstrating effective leadership skills.

Desirable:

Experience working to Patient Group Directions; Experience of using IT systems to input, store and retrieve client data; Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Essential:

Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Sub part 1 of the NMC register)/Registered Midwife; Up to date knowledge and experience of working in a sexual health/TOP/gynae service. Identify and escalate any risk or safeguarding concerns to senior colleagues and actively seek to reduce or eliminate those concerns identified in a positive manner. To embrace safeguarding mechanisms and support staff, patients and supporters at times when safeguarding principles need to be applied.

Desirable:

Professional nurse education teaching qualifications. Faculty of Reproductive Sexual Healthcare (FSRH) Letter of Competence in intrauterine techniques i.e. IUS/IDU fitter. Recognised qualification in Independent/Supplementary Prescribing. Ultrasound scanning experience in first and second stage trimester.
