We are looking for 1st Officers ready to join AZAMARA cruise ships, on the AZAMARA ONWARD vessel, embarkation ASAP. Contract: 10 weeks on/off. Requires management level CoC - STCW Reg.II/2, experienced with all valid certificates.Position Summary

Maintain a safe navigational watch on the bridge while the vessel is at sea, at anchor and in port. Responsible for passage/navigation planning and all navigation equipment on the bridge in accordance with Company Policies, national and international standards, and prescribed regulations.Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Captain and Staff Captain.Subordinates – Quarter Master, Fire Patrol and Security Guard on duty.Safety Duties

Participate in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions.Comply with Company safety and pollution prevention regulations and procedures.Lead by example in Health and Safety of self and others.Ensure that all work equipment, PPE, chemicals and safety devices are used correctly.Education/Experience/Qualifications

Valid STCW95 certification.Valid CoC A-II/2.Appropriate certification as required by regulations.Thorough knowledge of navigational charts and publications (sailing directions, tide tables, notices to mariners, radio navigational warnings, routing information).Physically and medically fit.Moral integrity.Coast Guard and Port State Control experience.Language Requirements

Fluent English (verbal, written and technical). Ability to give and receive instructions and interact with guests and crew. Additional languages are beneficial.Computer Knowledge

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Status – Officer. Salary and rotation refer to contract. Accommodation – Single cabin with every second day cleaning.Key Responsibilities

Act as the Master’s representative during Bridge watch; supervise the on-watch team; ensure watches are carried out and Masters'' standing orders followed; monitor navigation equipment and meteorological/tidal conditions; adhere to emergency procedures on the bridge.Maintain a satisfactory watch when Captain or Pilot is on board; ensure ship position is known at regular intervals using all navigational means.Know the vessel’s handling characteristics and safety features; be familiar with the Company’s VMS; ensure seaworthiness and lifesaving, fire-fighting, and pollution prevention equipment readiness.Keep watch logs and assist junior Deck Officers; supervise moorings in port and monitor in-port manning duties.During anchorage, determine and plot ship position; maintain look-out; perform inspection rounds; monitor weather and sea state; notify Master of required actions if the ship drags anchor.Ensure engines and machinery readiness; manage navigation lights, signals and tender operations; monitor navigational equipment status.Test and verify navigation equipment and automatic pilot; ensure accurate compass readings and chart corrections; use radar in restricted visibility and congested waters; be proficient with electronic navigational aids.Lay down course lines, maintain navigational charts, and record hydrographic data; keep charts updated with Notices to Mariners; prepare voyage plans for Master approval.Communicate with pilots, VTS, and port controls; conduct safe bridge operations during emergencies.Prepare comprehensive handovers for relief officers; manage vessel logs, reports, and regulatory compliance.Maintain bridge library, voyage itineraries, and up-to-date navigational publications; coordinate with shore operations for port calls.Report to Master any non-compliance with standards; monitor subordinates’ working/rest hours to maintain compliance with ILO/MLC.Support Safety Officer in crew training as required; understand ship stability and engage in related duties as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.
