The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is a chance to work on complex water infrastructure projects, contributing to the design and delivery of innovative solutions that meet stringent safety and quality standards.
We would also welcome applications from those with experience in building services, utilities, energy, environmental engineering, or infrastructure.

This role would suit candidates working as Mechanical Design Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Water Sector Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, M&E Design Engineer, Hydraulic Design Engineer, Wastewater Engineer, Clean Water Engineer, Project Engineer, or Technical Lead.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Deliver mechanical design outputs that meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
• Produce detailed calculations and technical drawings for water sector projects
• Lead and mentor CAD technicians to ensure consistent design quality
• Define scopes of work and review deliverables from external M&E design partners
• Provide time estimates for design packages and support project planning
• Represent the design team in client meetings and technical presentations

You will have the following qualifications and experience

• Mechanical design experience within the UK water industry
• Degree, HND or equivalent experience from a technician background
• Proficient in relevant design software and general IT tools
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a focus on technical excellence
