As a Senior Geophysicist, you will be predominantly responsible for leading a field team, acquiring geophysical data as well as assisting data processing and interpretation when in the office. It is a great opportunity to build on your skills and gain further exposure to a variety of interesting projects in the offshore renewable energy sector.Successful applicants shall have a strong background in geophysics and geology and should have a working knowledge of marine surveying. They will be a role model to more junior members of the team and will assist in their training. Supported by an experienced and committed team, successful candidates will be developing skill sets to carry out the following tasks within our growing company.Undertake fieldwork for extended periods of time away from home on projects onshore and offshoreLead offshore surveys as a Party ChiefAbility to PM intermediate – complex projectsAssist in leading data acquisition, maintain accurate records and assist in maintaining quality and consistency of field data, data processing, deliverable creation, and data management.Assist Processing and reporting managers with reporting, charting and data managementAssist Project Managers in project technical mattersBe a role model for more junior members of staff and lead by a good exampleBe a technical authority on geophysical survey equipment and softwareContinual training/development of junior staff and maintaining and updating training/procedural materialImplementing best practices for handling, maintaining and storing survey equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions or company guidanceLead vessel mobilisations and calibrationsLiaise with clients and organisations throughout the lifecycle of projectsLine management of more junior staffShow a high level of leadership amongst the teamSupporting and maintaining QHSE standards including BMS documentationUndertake data processing when requiredTake the lead of research into new technologies and arrange system/software trials to keep Spectrum on the cutting edgeForm part of the on call roster for weekend technical supportDegree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Geology, Geophysics or other related marine or earth science.At least 3 years working onboard vessels undertaking marine survey operationsHave lead a small team undertaking various marine survey tasksHave lead vessel mobilisations and calibrationsAbility to take initiative, to problem solve and troubleshoot data where requiredCompetent with GIS and spatial data (QGIS and ArcGIS)Understanding of data management and required coordination skills to handle large volumes of dataGood interpersonal and written communication skillsGood written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a training environmentHigh level of computer literacyHigh level of attention to detailHighly competent in the use of all Microsoft Office applications including Word and ExcelStrong academic report writing skillsAble to work in the UKFull valid UK driving licenseExperience with a scripting language (e.g. Python)Experience of training and mentoringAdhere to moral and ethical principles in all interactionsBe inclusive, respectful and team-focusedBeing open and honest in communication and operationsCelebrate other people’s successes – raise each other upContribute to a cooperative and supportive work environmentEnsure the confidentiality and security of data and company informationMaintain the highest levels of professionalism within the teamProviding a positive feedback loop to improve quality and practicesTake ownership of your training/developmentWork safely – your safety and that of othersPossess the energy, drive and commitment to further the work of the company33 days of annual leave per year (including Bank Holidays)Private Medical Insurance (BUPA)Pension 5% MatchedContinuous training and development opportunitiesCycle to work scheme (salary sacrifice)Modern, environmentally friendly office with sit down/standing desksAn Employee Assistance Programme, providing trained wellbeing and counselling practitioners and 24/7 telephone supportInterested applicants should submit a CV and a cover letter outlining their suitability for the role to cv@spectrum-offshore.com.
