Overview
Band 6/7 Role Depending on Experience - (Support will be provided from B6 to B7 once competencies achieved). This is a face-to-face outpatient role providing nutritional management and specialist diabetes education to adults with Type 1 and complex Type 2 diabetes. You will work as a member of the multidisciplinary diabetes team at Queen Mary''s Hospital, Roehampton, alongside the diabetes dietetic team at St George''s Hospital. The post involves providing a highly specialist dietetic service to diabetic outpatients, following evidence-based practice, being an active multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, and participating in audit and research related to diabetes to improve health outcomes and develop the service.It involves working with diabetes technology including CGM devices, insulin pumps and hybrid-closed loop systems. Education is provided to patients in one-to-one and group settings. The postholder works closely within the multidisciplinary team but also requires autonomous working and the ability to problem solve independently. This is a part-time post of 22.5 hours per week and flexible working hours may be agreed.Responsibilities
Provide a highly specialist dietetic service to diabetic outpatients.Apply evidence-based practice and contribute to audit and research related to diabetes to improve health outcomes.Act as an active member of the multidisciplinary team; educate patients and contribute to the development of nutrition policies and guidelines.Support the use of diabetes technology (CGM, insulin pumps, hybrid-closed loop systems) in patient management.Deliver diabetes education to patients in one-to-one and group settings.Work with the MDT while maintaining autonomous working and problem-solving capabilities.Contribute to professional and personal development within the dietetic department.Qualifications/Experience
Advanced knowledge and experience of diabetes dietetics.Experience with diabetes technology (CGM, insulin pumps, hybrid-closed loop systems) is desirable.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and autonomously when required.Additional Information
