An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy with a strong reputation across the architectural, design, engineering, building consultancy and technology sectors.
They are continuing to grow their Building Surveying offering and are looking for an experienced MRICS Building Surveyor who can take ownership of a varied workload, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued development of the team.
This is a role with plenty of variety. Their work spans a broad range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare and more. You''ll have the opportunity to work across technical surveying, project delivery, professional services and client advisory work.
The Role
As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you''ll work as part of their multidisciplinary team, managing and delivering instructions across both regional and national projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking building surveys, condition surveys, defect inspections and technical assessments across a range of property types.
- Preparing detailed and high-quality technical reports, schedules and recommendations.
- Providing advice on dilapidations, repairs, redecoration and reinstatement obligations.
- Preparing dilapidation assessments, Scott Schedules and schedules of dilapidations.
- Carrying out defect diagnosis, building pathology assessments and reinstatement cost assessments.
- Advising on Party Wall matters and other neighbourly issues, including preparing condition reports and Party Wall Awards.
- Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance programmes and reports.
- Supporting project delivery, including contract administration and the management of small to medium-sized works.
- Providing technical due diligence for acquisitions and disposals.
- Preparing cost information relating to repairs, maintenance, refurbishment, reinstatement and dilapidations.
- Working closely with clients, providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
- Supporting business development, fee proposals and client relationship management.
- Helping to manage, support and develop more junior members of the Building Surveying team.
What They''re Looking For
They''re looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident working independently with clients.
You''ll need:
- MRICS qualification or equivalent as a Chartered Building Surveyor.
- Strong experience across core Building Surveying services.
- Good knowledge of building pathology, defects and construction methods.
- Experience with building, condition and pre-acquisition surveys.
- Knowledge of dilapidations legislation, processes and best practice.
- Knowledge of Party Wall matters and neighbourly issues.
- An understanding of maintenance management and building lifecycles.
- Experience with JCT contracts, particularly Minor Works and Design & Build.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- The confidence to liaise directly with clients and provide clear technical advice.
- A commercial mindset, with an understanding of fee management, resourcing and business development.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car, as travel to sites will be required.
- The right to work in the UK.
