Cowbell is signaling a new era in cyber insurance by harnessing technology and data to provide SMEs with advanced warning of cyber risk exposures bundled with cyber insurance coverage adaptable to current and future threats. Cowbell uses continuous risk assessment and underwriting with an AI-based approach to risk selection and pricing. Our underwriting platform, powered by Cowbell Factors, aims to compress the insurance process from submission to issue to less than 5 minutes. Founded in 2019 and based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cowbell operates across the U.S., Canada, U.K., and India, with backing from Zurich Insurance and more than 25 reinsurance partners.Key Responsibilities
Craft clear, concise, and compelling copy for a wide range of materials, including:
Website content, landing pages, and blog articlesSocial media posts and advertisementsEmail marketing campaigns and newslettersProduct brochures, presentations, and other marketing assets
Maintain and evolve the brand’s tone of voice, style, and language guidelines across all communication channelsCollaborate with designers, marketing managers, and other stakeholders to develop campaign messaging and ensure alignment with broader marketing strategiesConduct research into industry trends, audience behaviours, and competitor activities to inform content creation and ensure it remains relevant and effectiveOptimise online content for search engine performance (SEO) to drive organic traffic and improve visibilityProofread and edit content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in spelling, grammar, and punctuationManage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentPresent content ideas and final deliverables to internal teams, business partners, and senior stakeholders, incorporating feedback and making revisions where necessaryAdditional Responsibilities
Act as the local marketing lead and point of contact for the UK sales, underwriting, and claims teamsSupport these teams by coordinating and participating in local industry events, conferences, and trade associationsQualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline2–5 years of relevant experience in copywriting, content marketing, or a related role (insurance sector experience preferred)Core Competencies
Excellent writing and editing skills: Ability to produce clear, compelling, and error-free content across varied formats and tonesCreativity and conceptual thinking: Skilled at generating innovative ideas and turning complex subjects into accessible narrativesMarketing acumen: Strong understanding of marketing principles, audience segmentation, and content strategySEO knowledge: Familiarity with best practices for search engine optimisation and experience applying them to digital contentAdaptability and collaboration: Able to work independently and within cross-functional teams across the UK, US, and IndiaTime management and organisation: Capable of managing competing priorities and delivering work to tight deadlinesAttention to detail: Committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy in grammar, punctuation, and factual contentTechnical proficiency: Comfortable using tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, content management systems (CMS), project management platforms, and potentially design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)What Cowbell brings to the table
