An established and progressive multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Building Physics Consultant to join its Bristol team. With flexible hybrid working arrangements and the chance to work on a wide variety of sustainable design projects, this is a fantastic opportunity for a building performance professional ready to step into a senior role within an innovative and supportive environment.
Role OverviewIn this position, you will take the lead on building performance modelling and environmental simulations, working closely with architects, engineers, and sustainability experts to inform design decisions and drive enhanced building efficiency and occupant comfort.
Main Responsibilities
Deliver advanced thermal modelling, daylight analysis, and overheating assessments
Provide guidance during early design stages using passive design and energy-efficient strategies
Advise on regulatory compliance including Part L, TM52, TM59, and other key standards
Integrate building physics insights into multidisciplinary project workflows
Support junior team members through mentoring and technical guidance
Contribute to net zero strategies, whole-life carbon assessments, and decarbonisation planning
Ideal Candidate Profile
Degree-qualified in Building Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Design, or a similar discipline
Proven experience in using IES-VE, DesignBuilder, or equivalent simulation tools
Strong working knowledge of UK building regulations and sustainability benchmarks
Consultancy experience across various building types and project stages
Confident communicator with good organisational and project coordination skills
Committed to sustainability and performance-based design
Prior experience in mentoring or technical leadership is a plus
